Outline Map of St. Charles County

The history of the City of Saint Charles is found all along its’ Main Street. Its stories of its founding in 1769 to its send off of Lewis and Clark with their Corps of Discovery in 1804; becoming Missouri’s First State Capitol in 1821, can all be found along its’ Main Street. The German emigrants and westward migration would start off on the Boone’s Lick Road which starts here on Saint Charles Main Street and ends with the beginning of the Sante Fe Trail. The prosperity of our city is embodied here in the beautiful architecture of the 19th Century buildings, all listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
